YOSA Philharmonic

Troy Peters, the Music Director of YOSA, leads the YOSA Philharmonic, an ensemble comprising exceptionally talented young musicians from the San Antonio area. This advanced orchestra showcases its proficiency by performing professional-level repertoire in prestigious venues, both locally and internationally.

YOSA Philharmonic 2023/24 Season Highlights:

Collaborating regularly with globally recognized soloists and composers, the YOSA Philharmonic is set to captivate audiences in the 2023/24 season through three Zachry Series concerts, the annual Classic Albums Live concert “YOSA Presents: Viva Emilio”, and the YOSApalooza concert.

Additionally, the talented musicians of the YOSA Philharmonic will embark on an exciting international tour to Germany in the Summer of 2024!

YOSA Philharmonic 2024/25 Season Highlights Will Include:

  • Exciting repertoire, including Bernstein West Side Story Overture, Orff Carmina Burana, Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet, Stravinsky Firebird Suite, and Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture

  • Collaborations with electric guitarist D. J. Sparr, the San Antonio Mastersingers, and the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio

  • The chance to be part of YOSA’s popular Classic Albums Live concert series

  • Side-by-side rehearsals with the musicians of the San Antonio Philharmonic

  • Season-opening weekend retreat in August

Zachry Series at the Tobin

The Zachry Series features performances by the YOSA Philharmonic at the prestigious Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, presenting professional-level repertoire and offering both musicians and the audience an enriching musical experience with a diverse range of classical and contemporary pieces.

Classic Albums Live!

The Classic Albums Live series is a reinvention of classic rock and pop songs with orchestral accompaniment, past celebrations have included Prince, Queen, the Beatles, and Selena.

YOSA Tour

In June 2024, YOSA will embark on a tour to Germany, performing concerts in Berlin, Leipzig, and Darmstadt. YOSA musicians from the YOSA Philharmonic, Symphony, and Wind Ensemble will have the chance to perform in and visit cities where composers like Bach and Mendelssohn lived and worked.
